Heroic Multimedia Inc.
wishes to thank you for your submitted modern day tall tales.
Although there can only be one team chosen to help produce the series,
Heroic Multimedia Inc. is planning on using all entries as part of this series.
BUT WAIT...
Heroic Multimedia Inc. is still looking for more help. We need songwriters to create the theme song for our series or for individual segments.
Listen to the following examples.
Paul Bunyan theme
John Henry theme
Davy Crockett
Casey Jones
Use a song that you already know the melody to such as:
Old Mac Donald Had a Farm
Oh When the Saints Come Marching In
Row Row Row Your Boat
The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round
(or any other melody that you are familiar with)
Create your own lyrics telling the story about your modern day tall tale hero
following the same rhythm and rhyme of your selected song.

"Have you ever wondered how these the tall tale legends began? I figure they started with just a regular old fellar like me doing something that caught the attention of some one who passed it on to someone else with a little change here and there- who then passed it on to some one else with a slight change just to make it a bit more interestin', and on and on. I wonder what the original story was for say John Henry or Old Stormalong. I think it would be just as interesting to take these American Tall Tales and rewrite them as a 'just the facts' newspaper article. Give it a try!"
Use one of the tall tales you read back in Process Step 2. Fill in this graphic organizer then go to this site to create your newspaper article. Title it "Hero or Not?" and give enough information for readers to make an informed decision. |
