This lesson was developed as part of Missouri's eMINTS Project (enhancing Missouri's Instructional Networked Teaching Strategies). It should take approximately two weeks to complete.
By completing this lesson, students should be able to identify the characteristics of a tall tale, write an original tall tale using those characteristics and have a deeper understanding of heroes both in folklore and modern day.
Prior to this lesson, students should have been introduced to the genre of tall tales. We used the Houghton Mifflin Reading series, Theme 2, and watched Disney's American Legends DVD. Students should also have a working knowledge of iMovie, Garage Band, Power Point, or SMART notebook.
